How to cut and clean mushrooms with step by step pictures / Putta Godugulu easy cleaning and cutting

From childhood I don't like to eat mushrooms, I don't know the reason behind and I never tasted it .
When we were in Belgium , we used to find fresh mushrooms sold in packets.
I tried once by following madhura's recipe video . OMG...... the taste was awesome. I really missed it for all these years. From that day I cooked this curry every once in ten days.

I had a doubt on how to clean and cut them when I tried for the first time .I also had a question if the grey bottom of the mushroom can be eaten or not. I called my mom and learned from her how to clean it easily. I also googled and cleared few doubts.

Here I want to give easy steps to clean and cut mushrooms

  • Always buy fresh white mushrooms.

  • First take mushroom and wash it under running water to remove any dirt on the surface.

  • Then wipe mushroom with a clean and dry cloth smoothly.

  • Cut a little end part of mushroom stem.

  • Now you can peel the outer layer of the mushroom easily (Refer pic below). Peeling outer layer is optional.

  • After removing outer skin, the mushroom looks like below.

  • Now flip mushroom upside down and look at the grey part.

  • If you don't want to eat it , remove it.

  • Then place mushroom head side down and chop them.

  • If you like slices then chop them into 3-4 slices.
  • I like mushrooms to be little bigger and hence I prefer big pieces.

Notes :
  • I remove grey hairy part for big mushrooms. For small one's I don't.

  • It is optional to peel outer layer if you are ready to cook.
  • If you want to use mushrooms in salads or raw , it is best to remove the outer layer.
  • If mushrooms are discolored or bad in color don't eat them. They may be damaged or inedible.
