homemade healthy cereal for babies/homemade healthy powder for kids/saathu maavu/multi grain cereal for babies

This is my ever first post and ever first recipe for those who want to prepare a homemade cereal which is healthy for babies.

In this recipe we will use several grains like rice, dals and dry nuts . This is very handy powder for mom's to make cereal/jaava for kids. One of my cousin suggested this recipe to me.

After preparing this powder, we can store in air tight container.

I started this jaava for my kid at his 10th month.

Ingredeints :

Rice - 2 cups
Toor dal  (kandi pappu) - 1 cup
Moong dal (pesara pappu) - 1 cup
Urud dal (Minapa pappu) - 1 cup
Semiya (Optional) - 3 tea spoons
Chana dal  (Optional) - 1 tea spoon
finger millet (Raagulu) - 2 cups
Cashew nuts - 3/4 cup
Badam / Almonds - 3/4 cup
peanuts - 1/4 cup

Preparation:

Take rice , all dals , finger millet in a bowl and wash them twice and drain them.

After two hours , spread them in a plate and allow to dry.


Next day dry roast that washed grains and add semiya if taken and dry roast in a low flame until a nice aroma is felt. Don't burn too much. Remove the barrel from stove and let it cool down.

In another skillet take the nuts and dry roast them for five minutes in low flame. Then allow it cool down.


After cooling down , make them to a fine powder in a mixer and store it in a air tight container.


Thats it. its ready to use.
