How to make chicken changezi / Chicken changezi recipe with step by step pictures / Murgh Chagenzi Recipe
Chicken changezi is a Pakistani dish which is very popular in Delhi. In this recipe roasted chicken pieces will be cooked in cream and milk. So it gives a rich and tasty flavor to curry. One of my friend suggested this recipe. First I tried with small amount of chicken. It came out really delicious. So I prepared again for my blog. As I also prepared vegetable biryani on the same day , this chicken changezi curry served as a side dish for it. Yum....Yum.....
Ingredients for chicken Changezi :
Chicken - 700 gms
Ghee - 5 tbsp
Milk - 100 ml
Ginger garlic paste - 3 tbsp
Tomatoes - 2
Coriander powder - 1 tbsp
Garam masala powder - 1 tbsp
Fresh Cream - 50 gms
Lemon juice - 2 tbsp
Green Chillies - 2
Kasuri Methi (Dried Methi leaves ) - 1/2 tbsp
Salt - to taste
Red Chilli Powder - 2 tbsp
Oil - 2 tbsp
Onions - 2
Cashew nuts - 8 to 10
Chaat Masala - 1/2 tbsp
Curd - 1/4 cup
Method :
- Marinate chicken with curd , salt (1 tbsp) , red chilli powder, 1 spoon lemon juice , 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste and keep it aside for 1 hour.
- Then after 1 hour , roast chicken pieces and keep them aside.
- Heat 2 tbsp ghee, 1 tbsp oil in a pan. Add sliced onions and fry until it changes it's color.
- Then add cashews and fry them until golden brown. Keep them aside. When they cool down, grind it into smooth paste by adding little water.
- Boil tomatoes for 5 mins and grind them into smooth paste.
- Now in the same kadai , heat remaining ghee and oil.Add ginger garlic paste . Saute for 1 min , then add tomato puree. Saute this for 2 mins.
- Now add milk slowly and mix well.
- Add red chilli powder, garam masala, coriander powder, and mix well. Fry this for 5 mins in medium flame.
- Now add onion , cashew paste and mix well. Saute for 1 min.
- Now add fresh cream , salt and mix it.
- Add chaat masala and mix well. Cook this with covered lid for 5 - 7 mins.
- Now add slitted green chilly , kasoori methi , lemon juice and mix well.
- Now add roasted chicken pieces and mix well.
- Add a little amount of water and cover with a lid. Cook this for 10 mins in medium to low flame.
