Fenugreek Chicken/ Fresh Methi chicken /menthi kura chicken

Fenugreek chicken curry is a special curry made adding fresh fenugreek leaves which is serves as a special dish out of routine.

             

Ingredients :

Chicken  -  1/2 kg
Onions   -   3
Tomatoes - 2 (medium)
Jeera(cumin seeds) - 1 tsp
Curry leaves - 1 or 2 stacks
Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
Ginger garlic paste - 2 tsp
Cumin powder - 1 tsp
Coriander powder - 1 tsp
Garam masala powder - 1/2 tsp
Red Chilli powder - 2 tsp (as per taste)
Salt - as per taste
Yogurt - 4 tsp
Fenugreek leaves - 1 1/2 cup
Cooking oil - 3 tbsp
Green chillies - 2 or 3

             


Procedure :

* In a kadai, heat oil. Add cumin seeds.
                 

* Add curry leaves and chopped green chillies and fry them for few seconds.
                         

* Add chopped onions.
                   

* Fry onions till golden brown and then add turmeric, ginger and garlic paste.
                     

* Fry for few minutes and then add cleansed chicken pieces.
                   

* Mix well, Fry until all the water in chicken disappears.Then add red chilli powder, salt and mix well.
                     

* Cook for 2 or 3 minutes and then add fresh fenugreek leaves(menthi leaves) and curd. Mix well.
                 

* Add pureed tomato and mix well. Cook this covered for 7 to 8 minutes.
                   

* add cumin powder and garam masala powder. cook for 2 to 3 mins.
                 


* Add water and bring to boil. Cover with a lid and cook until gravy thickens.
                   


                 


Fenugreek chicken is ready to serve. 

     

serve hot with rice or chapati.
